Rajasthan’s history began with early settlers, followed by the Mauryan Empire and various foreign rulers like the Bactrian Greeks, Kushans, and Sakals. The Rajputs, known for their warrior clans, dominated the region from the 8th century onwards, leading to the formation of numerous kingdoms and eventually the Mughal Empire’s rise. Under the British Empire, the various Rajput states were unified under the name Rajputana, which became the present-day Indian state of Rajasthan in 1949.
